Why does it think I am in the EU?

I'm based in Asia but connect to US servers usually with California but why do some sites detect me as being located in the EU? Sometimes when I visit a website, it would deny me access saying traffic from this EU country is blocked. I've been detected as being from the UK, Czech, among other EU countries.

Don't know if this is a coincidence but it only happens when I use WireGuard. I since switched to OpenVPN and this issue is no more. At least for now. My current settings as follows: VPN Killswitch - Disabled, PIA Mace - Disabled, PIA DNS, OpenVPN (Default settings), Proxy - None, Network - Next Generation; Include Geo-Located Regions.

  • For some reason, the California server puts the user in Europe. Try the US West or US Las Vegas.
