High CPU usage

PIA uses up quite a lot of cpu, what is causing this? It's hovering at 0.6% cpu for a second, then bumps up to 8% for 4-6 seconds, then back to 0.6% for a second or two. This is on 6-core ryzen 5 2500 which I think 8% is quite a lot, way too much actually. It has a significant impact on cpu intensive games when 8% of the cpu is being hogged by PIA. I also has a laptop that has much weaker cpu, there PIA takes up to 20% which is insane imo.

Is it suppose to be like this? It's making me doubt whether there are other vpn's that are less performance hostile...

    Also note: im not torrenting, or downloading. In fact windows is not downloading, I dont have any game running, no applications is updating,. yet it still does this.

    I tried exiting PIA and stopping/restarting the pia service. It actually stops for a while, can be 10 min or an hour, but always starts happening again.

    Im using PIA 2.4.
